Ānuenue Freedom Festival - Hawaii Big Island Pride

Anuenue Freedom Festival - Gay Pride HawaiiJoin us over the July 4th holiday weekend for a most unusual and beautiful Pride celebration: the Ānuenue Freedom Festival.

Ānuenue means rainbow, an important symbol honoring the diversity on this sacred land. From Wednesday, July 4th to Sunday, July 8th, we will have a host of celebratory activities to enjoy.

It all kicks off on July 4th with a spectacular organic BBQ, lovingly prepared by the chefs of The Lanai. Then, kick it up a notch with our Happy Hoedown at EMAX, with contra, square dance, and country dancing to fantastic live music. Our July 4th celebrations will finish off with a beautiful display of fireworks and fire dancers at the Point.

On Saturday, July 7, we are thrilled to welcome Kunst-stoff, one of the most cutting-edge dance companies in the USA. Kunst-stoff will headline an evening of dance performances, with local dance companies and hula halaus featured, all on the theme of IMUA: Moving Forward. Dancers of all levels and experience are welcome to take a creative afternoon dance workshop with Kunst-stoff on Friday afternoon, offered free to guests and community as part of our give-back programming.

Anuenue Festival GroundsAnd then, our feature day - Ānuenue itself! Sunday, July 8th continues the celebration with a Pride-themed ecstatic dance, followed by Aqua: A Chill Masquerade Party at Kalani's pool and spa. Come for some luxurious relaxation where we will have a live lounge DJ, free massage samples, a fruit bar, lauhala weaving, and other chill poolside activities. Don't forget your favorite masquerade mask!

After a day of relaxation at the pool, we will be closing our festival of Pride with a spectacular dinner and evening sing-a-long movie, The Little Mermaid. Be ready for a campy fun-filled evening, where all you need is your voice!

Along with all of these activities, guests will also have access to our weekly schedule of 50 plus activities, our pool and spa, three chef-prepared meals per day, wellness treatments, and time to explore the beautiful area around Kalani.

We look forward to celebrating with you!
