Cuisine: Healthy Food and Outdoor Dining

The Lanai at Kalani

Kalani’s dining lanai and kitchen have long been described as the “heart” of Kalani. As many as two hundred-fifty guests, local residents, staff and volunteers file in line each day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Mealtime is announced by the sound of three distinct tones on the conch shell that can be heard across the campus. This daily tradition reminds us of the rich cultural heritage we preserve on the mystical Hawaiian land where Kalani now resides. At this central gathering place, you can experience the daily rhythms of assembly and departure reminiscent of ancient village life.

Kalani cuisine encompasses a variety of styles including Thai, Indian, and Italian. Our chefs have extensive training and a common interest in creating healthful and delicious meals.

We celebrate the abundance of Hawaii by serving local tropical fruits and vegetables and fresh caught fish. Seafood is often served at dinner (chicken and beef are served occasionally), and vegetarians options are provided, as well.

Most importantly, our chefs firmly believe that the care and love invested in the cuisine is transmitted to the diner, and everything is prepared with aloha.

Dine with us at the following meal times, when our friendly kitchen team serves hot entrees and sides, after which you may select from our buffet-style fresh fruit or salad bar:

  • Breakfast from 7:30 am to 8:30 am - $13
  • Lunch from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm - $15
  • Dinner from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm - $24

Kudos to the chefs!

One of the many blessings of being in residence at Kalani is rolling onto the dining lanai to discover and savor each meal time's bounty.  Always fresh and often inventive, the menus always nourish the bigger values of Kalani, staff and guests.  The character of whoever is in the kitchen at any time clearly flavors each dish. One thing that I always look forward to is the salad spread and those amazing salad dressings.
