As the Clinical Director of the Alta Bates Summit Diabetes Center in Berkeley, California, she successfully incorporates stress management and energy medicine techniques taught at the retreat into clinical practice. She will present information on the latest medical advances as well as complementary therapies available to promote wellness.

Annie has a Masters of Science in holistic nutrition and exercise physiology. She is certified in personal fitness training, aerobics, meditation, biofeedback and yoga therapy. She will be teaching a gentle and meditative form of Ananda Yoga, with the focus of higher awareness and inner peace. President of Choose Total Wellness and owner of the Sacred Garden Yoga Studio in Half Moon Bay, California, she has been a wellness consultant for the American Heart and Lung Associations, and the Health Departments of Monterey County and the State of Hawaii.

Serge is an internationally acclaimed teacher of the ancient Huna philosophy and author of numerous books including Urban Shaman, Kahuna Healing, Instant Healing, Healing for Millions and Healing Relationships. He is the Executive Director of Aloha International, a world-wide network of teachers, counselors and therapists dedicated to sharing the Aloha Spirit and healing knowledge of Huna. Diane, a shamanic counselor trained with Aloha International, will introduce you to the Huna philosophy and healing techniques, Kahi Loa bodywork and the management of stress through breathwork, visualization and healing touch. She will also guide you in healing with nature during adventure excursions on her home island of Hawaii. Trained in natural health at the Vega Institute, she will explain how to eliminate the toxins creating a stress load in your diet, your lifestyle, your home and your workplace, and choose healthful natural foods and personal care products.

Jared has been living, deepening and sharing his yoga flow practice on the Big Island of Hawaii for the past seven years. Originally from the foothills of southern British Columbia, Jared first discovered his resonance with the practice ten years ago through the Ashtanga primary series. Jared received his certification to teach hatha yoga in the fall of 2001 through Kalani's Yoga Teacher Training program. He has felt blessed to be able to also study the art of teaching Vinyasa yoga with Shiva Rea, and has recently been inspired by the teachings of Darren Main, Kathy Elder and Tyler Blank.
David Sanders

David Sanders

David began his personal yoga practice in 1976. He has studied at a variety of locations in Los Angeles, including Billy Porter's Urban Yoga Workout, and Yoga Works, Santa Monica. David has been deepening his practice at Kalani for the last six years. A Kalani teacher for the past three years, David graduated from Kalani's Yoga Teacher Training in April of 2002. While at Kalani, he has had the opportunity to study with visiting teachers, including Shiva Rea, Lynne Minton, Saul David Raye and Duncan Wong.

Dennis Dehler

Dennis completed Yogi Bhajan's Self Mastery Kundalini Teacher Training program in May 2005. He began practicing yoga in 2000 and has studied with Gurmukh, Kathy Elder, Sharon Gannon, David Life and Baron Baptiste. He graduated from Kalani's Yoga Teacher Training in October 2001 and began teaching hatha and Kundalini yoga at Kalani in 2003.

Peter Lavina

Peter Lavina

Peter's yoga practice and study started in 1990 at the Yoga Institute in Houston. His yogic journey took him to the Big Island of Hawaii in 1999 to continue his studies under Kathy Elder, where he graduated from Kalani's Yoga Teacher Training in 2001. In 2006 he took his level of study to a deeper level when he journeyed to Varanasi, India to study in an ashram with other yogis on the banks of the Ganges. Peter believes the life science which is yoga has the ability to transform both the individual, and thus society. "Through the practice one unblocks the blockages that prevent and individual from achieving their ultimate human potential"... He teaches both Hatha and Kundalini classes at Kalani.

Michelle Bulgatz

Teaching for the past twelve years, Michele knows she has the best job in the world! She teaches weekly classes, retreats and workshops locally and internationally. As a practicing artist, Michele strives to create beauty in many areas. In 2004 she produced the Loving Kindness Yogathon in Eugene, a twelve-hour celebration of Yoga, Meditation and Kirtan. Participants were invited to co-create a profoundly positive change on every level. She currently links her meditation practice and art by creating quilts expressly for the recipient as a meditation in motion. She transforms worn clothing and textiles for another go around as a warm cuddly blanket. Other passions include; parenting her eleven year old son River, camping, hiking and gardening. Bryan Harrelson's teaching style focuses on alignment and breath. A regular meditator he sometimes uses meditation to begin and/or end his classes. Bryan teaches an all levels yoga class that will both make beginners feel comfortable and challenge advanced practitioners. He has 380 Yoga Alliance Certified hours in Ashtanga yoga as well as Anusara. He has trained with Sianna Sherman and Noah Maze and practiced under Darren Main, Darcy Lyons, and Kenny Graham.  Bryan hopes to help people accept and love where they are so that they can begin to move forward.

Ken Breniman has practiced yoga for over 8 years and became certified with Yoga Alliance as a RYT-200 after graduating from Yoga Tree's Yoga Teacher Training program in 2006. In the Bay Area, Ken offers a weekly Nude Men's class and a monthly Nude Yoga Social. Ken provides eclectic Non-denominational Hatha yoga guidance, honoring a variety of traditions, such as Iyengar aligment principles, invigorating Kudalini Kriya, and playful Acroyoga-inspired partnerwork. Ken's 'day job' is that of a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Ken is currently working on his Yoga Therapist certification at the Ananda Seva Mission in Santa Rosa, CA.

He first discovered his yoga body through the primary series with Pamela Richardson in the summer of '97. He graduated from Kathy Elder's original yoga teacher training class in 2001, with fellow students Dennis Dehler and Peter Lavina. jaRed has since deepened his understanding of teaching vinyasa flow yoga through intensives with Duncan Wong and Shiva Rea. Dennis agrees with Pattabhi Jois' statement in the movie Enlighten Up that the main goal of yoga is to discipline the mind. Dennis feels that Kundalini Yoga is one of the most effective, fun and quickest methods to practice the art of disciplining the mind.

His approach is gentle and focuses on opening up the energy centers in the body with Kundalini Yoga exercises. He has studied with Kundalini master Gurmukh and completed Yogi Bhajan's Kundalini Teacher Training. His classes are invigorating, grounding, intuitive, fun and leave you feeling centered, calm and smiling.

Maxwell is a massage therapist, dancer, poet, musician, artist and world-traveling yogi. He was first introduced to yoga by his mother when he was a young child and has been interested in alternative medicine and healing arts ever since. He has studied with different teachers around the world such as Kathy Elder, Shiva Rea, Lino Miele and Duncan Wong. He received his yoga teacher training certificate in 2003 at Kalani Honua in Hawaii. He is influenced by many different styles of yoga and martial arts such as: hatha yoga, ashtanga yoga, yin yoga, vinyasa yoga , restorative yoga , capoiera, tai chi, and Kuk Sol Korean Buddhist martial arts. He has recently spent 5 months traveling throughout Mother India studying yoga, music and meditation.

In essence the spirit of the islands is "Aloha", which means to be kind, nurturing and loving to yourself, to others and to the planet.

The creation of "`Ohana Yoga" comes from blending this 'magic' and 'spirit' into my own unique style of teaching. Gena has also authored a book and dvd "The Gift of Yoga".
