Healing Dance II

Ashaman Gray

November 23, 2012 - November 29, 2012

Healing Dance is a synthesis of Watsu, Trager Work, Waterdance, and pure movement.  It combines the freedom, scope and 3 dimensions of Waterdance with the safety and nurture of Watsu.

About the Facilitator(s)

Ashaman has been dancing through the water since 1999, inspired by his trainings with Alexander. He brings a passion for movement and connection to his water work, continually fulfilled and renewed through aikido practice and music. “Teaching for me is an expression - the conscious formation of something from within given life by the listening of students. It’s a transmission, a birth process where students are offered a form through which their inner fire can burn. Teaching is a vehicle for harmonization, a space held for inspiration to explode and new galaxies to begin.”

Healing Dance I

Ashaman Gray, Lilia Cangemi

November 14, 2012 - November 20, 2012

Healing Dance is a synthesis of Watsu, Trager Work, Waterdance, and pure movement.  It combines the freedom, scope and 3 dimensions of Waterdance with the safety and nurture of Watsu.

About the Facilitator(s)

"I was raised as a barefoot child in the international township of Auroville in South India. I grew up among a truly diverse population, including German farmers in loincloths and Tamil computer engineers. I enjoyed racing my pony - transport - to school in the morning with friends, to the Bay of Bengal on weekends for swims in the surf. We never used saddles, rarely bits; a rope around the neck was sufficient. Fall off, get back on. The teachings of the Mother and Sri Aurobindo were a given I never questioned or gave any special attention to until leaving Auroville for the west. They continue to form the basis of my spiritual path." Ashaman has been dancing through the water since 1999, inspired by his trainings with Alexander.

About the Facilitator(s)

CAROL P. PRENTICE Carol has a passion for working with and helping others heal themselves. If given the right tools, she believes that you can heal and transform your own life. At a very young age she experienced a traumatic back injury and was forced to rely on the western ways of surgery and medication to ease her pain. This experience led her to a lifelong pursuit of healing herself and in teaching the Alexander Technique, Ayurveda and Yoga. Carol graduated from Alexander Training Institute in San Francisco under the direction of Frank Ottiwell in 1986; she furthered her studies with first generation Alexander Teachers Marjorie Barstow, Walter & Dilly’s Carrington and Marjory Barlow. Carol is a Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist and Pancha Karma Specialist (Ayurveda Body Therapies) and a graduate of the California College of Ayurveda, where she is currently a faculty member. Carol has been a student of yoga since the early 80’s, but it wasn’t until she met Mr. TKV Desikachar in 2009, that she experienced the true healing side of yoga. She enrolled at the Healing Yoga Foundation, with Chase Bossart and Kate Holcomb, a 500-hour teacher-training program in the tradition of T. Krishnamacharya. As Ayurveda and Yoga are the sister sciences to each other, Carol along with her Alexander training has developed a hands-on approach to working with these 3 systems of learning to help empower people in their own process of healing. More can be found on her website www.HandsOn-Retreats.com

CHASE BOSSART Chase Bossart, M.A., E-RYT 500, is a longtime, personal student of Mr. TKV Desikachar and a Krishnamacharya Healing and Yoga Foundation certified Yoga Teacher Trainer. A daily-life practitioner with deep theoretical understanding and a clear, warm & engaging presentation style, Chase uses humor and practical examples to make the teachings experiential and accessible. He has extensive experience in the therapeutic application of yoga in the tradition of Śrī T. Krishnamacharya, Mr. TKV Desikachar & Kausthub Desikachar and is the Director of Therapy & Education at the non-profit Healing Yoga Foundation (www.HealingYoga.org) in San Francisco. He gives frequent workshops on a broad range of yoga topics throughout the US and especially loves to lead experiential workshops demonstrating yoga philosophy’s practical applications in daily life. More can be found on his website www.ChaseBossart.com

JEAN-LOUIS RODRIGUE Jean-Louis is an internationally recognized teacher of the Alexander Technique and a pioneer in its application to the performing arts, somatic education and health.
