Maxwell Starkhouse

Maxwell is the founder of Intuitive Yoga™, an innovative approach to yoga that moves beyond poses and into our own intuitive sense of what our body needs the most at any given moment. He has been developing Intuitive Yoga™ through retreats, classes, and workshops over the past 9 years.

Maxwell is a certified yoga teacher who has worked with different teachers around the world such as Kathy Elder, Shiva Rea, Lino Miele and Duncan Wong. In 2005, he spent half a year traveling in India deepening his practice of yoga, which profoundly influenced his method. Maxwell’s approach is intuitive and he creates a space for deeper awareness and our body’s own healing abilities.

Ayako Miyauchi

Ayako lived in a rural village of Japan for 19 years and came to U.S. following her heart's guidance. She fell in love with dance and studied wide variety of modern dance and contemporary dance as well as improvisation, yoga and Continuum Movement. She has also been trained in various energy healing modality both in U.S. and Japan. Inner Wave Movement Meditation is developed to offer participants an opportunity to bring attention to the healing quality of subtle and intrinsic movement of the body and unwind from daily stress in a most gentle and nourishing way.

Dennis Dehler

Dennis agrees with Pattabhi Jois' statement in the movie Enlighten Up that the main goal of yoga is to discipline the mind. Dennis feels that Kundalini Yoga is one of the most effective, fun and quickest methods to practice the art of disciplining the mind. His approach is gentle and focuses on opening up the energy centers in the body with Kundalini Yoga exercises. He has studied with Kundalini master Gurmukh and completed Yogi Bhajan's Kundalini Teacher Training. His classes are invigorating, grounding, intuitive, fun and leave you feeling centered, calm and smiling.

jaRed sam

 jaRed has been learning, deepening and sharing his yoga flow practice at Kalani for the past eleven years.  He first discovered his resonance with yoga through the ashtanga primary series with Pamela Richardson in the summer of '97.  He graduated from Kathy Elder's original yoga teacher training in 2001, and has since deepened his understanding of teaching vinyasa flow yoga through intensives with Shiva Rea.  

He has felt honored and inspired by the teachings of many and holds gratitude for all of his teachers, past and present.  He continues to hold a sacred space for breath, gratitude, yoga and love in his weekly classes at Kalani Oceanside Retreat.  www.jaredsam.com 

Stephen LaBerge, Ph.D.

JON ARTERTON began his musical journey as a choirboy at Washington's National Cathedral. He was twice a Tanglewood Vocal Fellow at the Berkshire Music Festival, and holds a Master's Degree in Choral Conducting from The New England Conservatory of Music. He also holds an MFA in Acting from Smith College, and has performed in hundreds of plays and musicals, including one night on Broadway in The Utter Glory of Morissey Hall. He was the founder and musical arranger of The Flirtations, the proudly gay a cappella group seen on HBO and in the film Philadelphia. He conducts The Outer Cape Chorale, a 140-voice community chorus in Provincetown, Massachusetts he began in 2002. He also serves as the Director of Music at The U.U. Meeting House in Provincetown and gives periodic Singing Workshops. He recently took fifth place in a national online competition to collaborate with cellist Yo-Yo Ma in a performance of Dona Nobis Pacem. He and his husband James Mack have recently released their first CD together entitled Legally Married … and the sky didn’t fall!
