Joyce and Barry Vissell

We are excited to be leading our 26th Hawaii retreat at Kalani Oceanside Retreat. These retreats have exceeded all our expectations, and have been truly life-changing for each couple that has attended. We focus on seeing our partner with new eyes, healing dysfunctional patterns, renewal, communication, making amends for past hurts, deepening the sexual relationship, and filling the cup of love with our partner.

About the Facilitator(s)

Ram Dass calls Joyce and Barry Vissell “true bhaktis,” a couple who live the yoga of love and devotion. They are a nurse and medical doctor deeply in love for 46 years, who have raised three children and “walk their talk.” Their model of relationship and deeply heart-oriented approach have made a unique impact upon many thousands of people’s lives. As a result of the world-wide interest in their books, The Shared Heart, Models of Love, Risk To Be Healed, The Heart’s Wisdom, and Meant To Be, they have been conducting talks and workshops on relationship, parenting and personal growth. They are the founders and directors of the Shared Heart Foundation (www.sharedheart.org), a non-profit organization dedicated to changing the world one heart at a time. The Vissells write a monthly column on 'living from the heart' that appears in about 80 publications worldwide.

Charley “Special guest musician Charley Thweatt is a multi-talented singer, songwriter, and recording artist who has opened thousands of hearts around the world with his musical gifts. His intuitively chosen songs accelerate soul healing for the couples.”

Singing with Courage

Jon Arterton

January 17, 2012 - January 22, 2012

Jon Arterton - Singing with Courage"I'm discovering that lots of people were told not to sing as children - can you imagine?! I'm sure many of them heard far more than "Don't Sing"; they heard "Don't Speak. Don't really be." Singing is a very scary experience for many of us - it's so fraught with opportunities to make a fool of oneself. For those of us who were encouraged to sing as children, singing has always been magical haven, and yet a bit of a mystery.

About the Facilitator(s)

Jon Arterton

Jon Arterton

Jon began his musical journey as a choirboy at Washington's National Cathedral. He was twice a Tanglewood Vocal Fellow at the Berkshire Music Festival, and holds a Master's Degree from The New England Conservatory of Music where he also served as Assistant Conductor of Choruses. He also holds an MFA in acting from Smith College, and has appeared in regional theater, Off-Broadway and on Broadway in The Utter Glory of Morrissey Hall. He was the founder and musical arranger of The Flirtations, the proudly gay a cappella group seen on HBO, Good Morning America and in the film Philadelphia. He lives in Provincetown, Massachusetts where he serves as Director of Music at The U.U. Meeting House and conducts the 135-voice Outer Cape Chorale which he founded in 2002.
