Yoga Inspired by the Chakras

Anja Borgstrom

July 12, 2015 - July 18, 2015

On this gentle yoga retreat, we will be exploring the chakra energy centers through breath awareness, asana, meditation, sound, creative movement, color imagery, and affirmation.

About the Facilitator(s)

Anja Borgstrom
Growing up in a small, Northern California beach town, Anja frequented the cliffs overlooking the ocean to practice nature-honoring rituals. This was the early phase of what grew to be a passion for movement in dance, surfing, capoeira, and yoga.

Anja is a 1996 graduate of The Yoga Room’s Iyengar-based teacher training program in Berkeley, CA. She has taught for 21 years, cultivating a gentle, subtle, alignment and breath-based approach. Calming the nervous system lays the foundation for the practice. With compassion, patience, and knowledge, she offers valuable individualized guidance. Restorative, Gentle, children’s yoga, and yoga retreat adventures are yoga niches that she offers with gratefulness and zeal.

Over 30 successful, intimate size yoga retreats have been led by Anja since 1997. The continuous flow of a deep, daily practice , harmony with nature, and the connection of the group provides an ideal environment for yoga to unfold.

Restore Your Roar: a Re-boot Camp

Amanda Trusty & Olivia Petzy

January 13, 2016 - January 20, 2016

About the Facilitator(s)

Amanda Trusty is a tap dancer, body love advocate, and blogger at amandatrustysays.com. Known primarily for her viral tap burlesque video to Katy Perry's "Roar", where she stripped down to her skivvies at Kalani in November 2013 and peeled the words "cellulite" and "fat" off her body to make a statement, she is a writer and blogger bringing awareness to the body image and eating disorder crisis that faces the entertainment industry. After a performance career in New York City that spanned the course of a decade, Amanda is now a full-time dance teacher on the Big Island of Hawai’i. In 2014, she was featured as one of Huffington Post’s top women bringing body positivity to dance. She also writes for Sadie Jane dancewear. She is an expert on Nutella.

Olivia Petzy is a performer, Shrink Session sweat therapist, writer, and gummy candy connoisseur. She spent four years in a theater conservatory where she learned that she loved theme parties and hated the way her body moved when dancing so much that she cried in every dance class. Sometimes she had four in one day. That's a lot of crying. After moving to New York City, Olivia stumbled into a Shrink Session class and discovered that it was possible to move your body in a way that feels freeing. Life changed, she became obsessed with sharing her unique spin on the class and empowering others to move with ease and joy, regardless of their level of dance skill or athleticism. She is a popular comedian and host in NYC and is late for everything because she’s snuggling with her dog Walter.

The Path of Love

Sat Shree and Satyamayi

November 29, 2015 - December 5, 2015

About the Facilitator(s)

Sat Shree

Sat Shree experienced a sudden awakening to the spiritual dimension of existence in 1998.

“This state arose suddenly without any effort on my part in the midst of an individual human life one night in 1998. This ‘awakening’ was a glimpse of an utterly different and radical state of being that I now reside in.

My work is to play a part in this Truth Manifestation by awakening and supporting its expression in those that come to me. I have traveled this journey myself and have learned the secrets. I am, like all truly awakened spiritual teachers, a farmer tending nature’s garden of evolving souls.”

In 2009, with his partner, Satyamayi, Sat Shree founded New Dharma to support his teaching.

Satyamayi

Satyamayi serves as our retreat “Mother of Truth” nurturing us through her full support and assistance. As co-founder of New Dharma, Satyamayi  travels with Sat Shree, actively supporting all aspects of his work. Her sacrifice, patience and wisdom are a powerful expression of the maturity one develops in service to Divine.

She supports and guides many who come to Sat Shree sharing the pain and difficultly of her own process. Her wisdom and truth strengthens many who are struggling with their own transformation process. She has been with Sat Shree since the start of his journey, first as his wife and now as his partner in the work.

She shares directly from her experience having witnessed the transformation of a husband into a Divine being, becoming transformed herself in the process.

Her specialties are healing past traumas that block our energy and inhibit us from fully living life, creating clarity out of confusion, and supporting the graceful navigation of challenging life transitions.

Beth White Mountain

Beth received her yoga teacher's training in the Sivananda Vendanta Yoga Tradition in 1997. She has also been a Massage Therapist for 20 years specializing in Ayurvedic Bodywork. She wild-crafts herbs in her area for both ceremonial and medicinal uses. Beth is a hand drummer and lover of sacred songs.

Beth’s yoga classes bring body, mind, and spirit into harmony through breath, asana and meditation. As a mother and healer Beth intimately understands how the stresses of daily life can interfere with our ability to contact the sacred that is always within our selves. Beth assists women to connect with and unfold their divine feminine selves by creating a space to go within.  It is here that we find that sacred place that always resides in ourselves but often is neglected due to external stress.

Beth currently resides on the Standing Rock Sioux Indian Reservation in South Dakota, where she teaches yoga at Sitting Bull College and has a private massage practice. She is also the co-founder of The Natural Law Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to reservation community projects that inspire relearning our connection to the natural world. She and her husband have been creating community gardens & orchards on the reservation and host gatherings for ceremony.
