A 254 hour introductory course covering Human Anatomy and Physiology, as well as the history, theory and demonstration of a variety of massage techniques. Our goal is to prepare students with a strong technical foundation as well as to inspire them to open their heart and delight in the gift of touch.
Class sessions will be held for 9am - 12pm and 2pm - 5pm. Periodic days off will allow time for exploring the abundant natural beauty of Hawaii.
Courses offered:
Human Anatomy - August 29 - September 7A 50 hour overview course covering all the body systems, with a special attention to those most relevant to massage therapists.
Massage Basics 1 - Sept 9-15A 36 hr. introduction to Swedish style massage, with an emphasis on developing your own awareness and inner guidance.
Massage Basics 2 - Sept 17-21A 24 hr course designed to bring your massage practice to a deeper level. This course will focus on listening and observation skills, as well as reviewing swedish techniques and introducing a basic Shiatsu sequence.
Raindrop Technique - Sept 22A 6 hr. introduction to the therapeutic use of essential oils. This energizing technique has been used for years to balance and rejuvenate the mind and body.
Hawaiian Lomi Lomi - Sept 24-30A 36 hr. introductiory course covering the basic Lomi Lomi massage techniques as well as the use of hot stones. A Blend of Traditional Lomi Lomi and Temple Style Lomi.
Deep Tissue Massage - Oct. 1-5The deep tisssue workshop will provide the theory and hands-on practice necessary for students to gain a basic understanding of deep tissue/structural release massage techniques.
Introduction to Reflexology- Oct 7-9A thorough 18 hr hands on introduction to the theory and practice of reflexology.
Traditional Thai Massage- Oct. 11-22A 60 hr introduction to the practice of this ancient massage. You will learn a 1 ½ hr. sequence based on the Northern Thailand Style.
