Experience OHANA at the Living in Rhythm Retreat

Join Kalani, former percussionist with Yanni and certified Orff-Schulwerk Practitioner for six days of artful wellness practices.

In Hawaiian, ohana means family, but it can also be used to describe a community or a circle of friends who share common experiences, dreams, hopes, and visions. It also means Organic, Holistic, and Nurturing Arts.

Join us and share your passion for health and wellness. Tap into the healing power of the drum and Native American flute as you discover how to use archetypal rhythms, chanting and sacred movement to foster personal power, wellness, and spirituality.

About the Facilitator(s)

Kalani is a natural teacher who has shared the gifts of music, dance, fitness and spiritual expression with thousands of people worldwide. Known for his friendly and accessible style, Kalani provides a safe and supportive environment for learning and practicing healthful life skills in a community setting. His work is featured at conferences and through organizations including the International Music Products Association, The American Music Therapy Association, The American Orff-Schulwerk Association, The Boys and Girls Clubs of America, The National Association for Music Education, and the Percussive Arts Society.

GongReferred to by some as an “Urban Shaman,” Kalani brings together musical, physical, emotional and spiritual practices in a way that honors traditional teachings and supports urban lifestyles. He has authored over 7 books, 17 instructional videos, and 3 CDs of original music. As a percussionist with over 30 years of professional experience, Kalani has performed with musical icons Barry Manilow, Yanni (Live at The Acropolis), Kenny Loggins, Max Roach, Dr. John, and can be heard on multiple TV and Film soundtracks. Kalani first introduced a unique blend of fitness and drumming in 2002 and went on to found Rhythm Gym, a project of Community Partners (a 501c3 non-profit) whose mission is to bring healthful programs to children and adults in underserved communities (rhythmgym.org). Kalani is the founder of the Drum Circle Music™ approach to group empowerment and community building. He currently trains facilitators nationwide (drumcirclemusic.com). He is the Artistic Director of the World Rhythms Arts Program, presenting classes and courses in the traditional drumming and dance from world cultures. (drumcamp.com and drum2dance.com).
