About the Facilitator(s)

Carolyn Costin, M.A.,M.ED., M.F.T. Author of The Eating Disorder Sourcebook & 100 Questions and Answers About Eating Disorders will focus on advanced techniques in therapy sessions that use mindfulness. Her unique use of mindfulness principles sets the clinician free from getting hooked into patients’ stories, sucked into dramas, and caught up in their own agendas. Carolyn will demonstrate firsthand how to remain free from burnout while offering profound recovery opportunities for patients. Bring your difficult cases and your difficult self as Carolyn's demonstration sessions will focus on how, time and time again, you can take the path toward transformative moments in your professional and or personal work. Carolyn will bring us her new version of “Ten things most important to transformative work.”

Anita Johnston, PhD: Author of Eating in the Light of the Moon will teach how to become fluent in storytelling and storylistening, how to use metaphor as an aspect of your own work professionally and personally, and how to find meaning in the life stories you inhabit. Using archetypal psychological principles, expand your own access to inner realms of the deep feminine -- realms outside of linear thinking and three-dimensional space and time – realms which will enrich your own life and your sessions with patients.

Francie White, M.S. R.D. : Mixes practical ideas advancing nutrition therapy with fundamentals about the science of consciousness (PhD candidate in consciousness-studies). As a colleague of Geneen Roth, she will bring key insights from Roth’s new book: Women, Food & God commenting on the role of self-judgment in finding a path to the heart of the sacred. Francie brings life to client-sessions about recovery blocks and how to navigate through them. Prevent burn-out through 5 processes that inspire recovery.

Elissa Shapiro, LCSW: Back by popular demand! Elissa is a licensed therapist, movement and dance facilitator. She becomes the connecting force for all the elements to fuse within the body of each participant. Her work never fails to bring powerful meaning and unity to the group through the elements, rituals and the soul-themes of the workshop.
