Philosophy & Lifestyle: Through the practice of journaling, sharing, and creative expression, we will truly embark on the practice of svadhyaya (self-study), yamas (interactions with our community and the world), and niyamas (personal discipline). Participants will adopt a yogic lifestyle at their own pace and in their own unique ways through the gradual introduction of self-directed options and paths of interest. Anatomy & Physiology: The ancient system of Yoga includes much more than a mere physical practice. It is ultimately an all-inclusive holistic health program for life. The philosophy and practices include all aspects of the human experience, including the mind, spirit, body, and breath. Through our studies, we will learn how all of these systems connect. We will study all of the major systems of body function, including muscular, skeletal, nervous, endocrine, digestion, cardio vascular, lymphatic, and reproductive. The course also examines the energetic systems of the body in terms of chakra and meridian organization. Teaching: You will learn quality instruction and teaching skills, including proper cueing, "Tell-Show-Do" modeling behavior, gentle assists, and motivational techniques. Upon completion, you will possess the knowledge necessary to teach a safe, effective, and thoroughly holistic group yoga class, as well as the skills to gently guide a client in a private, individualized setting.
