What if you could…

• Have less stress and tension in your life.
• Learn to have less pain and discomfort in your everyday movement.
• Bring new awareness into your asana, pranayama and meditation practice.
• Change your diet and lifestyle habits so you feel healthy and rejuvenated everyday.
• Turn the ordinary into the extraordinary.

Come join us on the Big Island of Hawaii …immerse yourself in a 5-day retreat at the beautiful Kalani Resort where you will learn to:

Integrate the hands-on approach of the Alexander Technique into your asana,
pranayama and mediation practices.
Develop self-care practices of diet and lifestyle from an Ayurvedic perspective.
Transform your stress, fatigue, and pain into a balanced and healthy lifestyle that works.
Nourish your body, mind and spirit with new understanding.

What Yoga, Ayurveda and the Alexander Technique have in common is that they all work on waking us up consciously into the present moment. They use different tools while the underlying essence is the same.

This retreat not only offers you an immersion into daily Yoga and Ayurveda practices that support health and well-being. It will also give you a clear understanding of the Alexander Technique where you will learn to “think with your body” in such a way that allows less tension as you move…whether in walking, working at your computer, driving a car, sports or yoga.

The value of Yoga is demonstrated in our daily lives and in relationship with family and co-workers.  This is developed through daily practice, requires great self-observation & awareness.  Slowly, our capacity to respond and to be truly in relationship with the world increases.  Thinking is a process, and being-aware is an experience.  By experiencing the true power of Yoga our lives are changed forever in a very practical way.

Applying the Alexander Technique to Yoga will help you to create a clearer understanding of how our habits of life interfere with our Yoga practice, both on and off the mat.  You will learn how to transform an ordinary Yoga practice into a smart Yoga practice that allows for deeper change with less effort.

About the Facilitator(s)

CAROL P. PRENTICE Carol has a passion for working with and helping others heal themselves. If given the right tools, she believes that you can heal and transform your own life. At a very young age she experienced a traumatic back injury and was forced to rely on the western ways of surgery and medication to ease her pain. This experience led her to a lifelong pursuit of healing herself and in teaching the Alexander Technique, Ayurveda and Yoga. Carol graduated from Alexander Training Institute in San Francisco under the direction of Frank Ottiwell in 1986; she furthered her studies with first generation Alexander Teachers Marjorie Barstow, Walter & Dilly’s Carrington and Marjory Barlow. Carol is a Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist and Pancha Karma Specialist (Ayurveda Body Therapies) and a graduate of the California College of Ayurveda, where she is currently a faculty member. Carol has been a student of yoga since the early 80’s, but it wasn’t until she met Mr. TKV Desikachar in 2009, that she experienced the true healing side of yoga. She enrolled at the Healing Yoga Foundation, with Chase Bossart and Kate Holcomb, a 500-hour teacher-training program in the tradition of T. Krishnamacharya. As Ayurveda and Yoga are the sister sciences to each other, Carol along with her Alexander training has developed a hands-on approach to working with these 3 systems of learning to help empower people in their own process of healing.
