As we approach the auspicious time of 2012, there’s a wellspring of change bubbling throughout our society. At the core of this change is consciousness itself, the undercurrent of collective energy encouraging a great renewal of connection and transformation for everyone. The tide of this new consciousness can be measure by the strength of each individual, at the core of their being. This New Year, come and enjoy five days of immersion in yoga and meditation as you discover the wellspring of your untapped energy, health and restoration and leap into a great shift onto yourself.
The tradition of practicing yoga and meditation are two complimentary systems. Their origin come from the rich traditions of the Vedic sciences of India. Together, yoga and meditation comprise of an applied technology, a technology of consciousness. They serve to enhance a person’s physical, mental, emotional, as well as, spiritual wellbeing.
In India, it is a common practice to engage in yoga followed by meditation. Together they serve as a powerful tool to increase awareness, presence of mind and breath while simultaneously helping to open and clear the energy channels of the body. Each yoga asana (posture) is designed to stimulate certain energy channels which are inherently connected to the integration of body, mind, spirit. In meditation, the mind is able to finally rest, as it sinks into deeper levels of consciousness. This allows for the release of stored stress lodged in or blocking the energy channels of the body/mind connection. Whereas sleep is rest for the body, meditation is the only state of being where the mind fully rests. This resting in meditation gives the mind a full opportunity to transcend: the process where the mind arrives at a state of deep rest and clarity, going beyond the activity of thought itself.
This course will emphasize both yoga and meditation, as a combined practice. The yoga asana practice taught in class is gentle Hatha based. The meditation technique is based on Vedic tradition. This is a simple and effortless system of meditation which includes preparatory movements and breath techniques combined with techniques to stimulate the energy channels of the body. Both the yoga and meditation are easy to learn and designed for any beginner as well as experienced practitioners.
With proper instructions, the practice of meditation can be an easy and effortless experience. It can provide great benefits and enrich life on many levels. With no prior experience, this five day yoga and meditation workshop is designed to give you tools to incorporate a simple and effective yoga asana and meditation program in your life. Throughout the workshop, you'll experience an enlivening awareness of yourself as you release stored blockages in body and mind while strengthening and deepening the quality of your yoga asana and meditation experience.
The workshop will include:
*Several yoga asana and meditation sessions each day.
*Easy, comprehensive guided yoga asana and meditation instruction.
*Instructions in specific body movement techniques, gentle yoga asanas (poses),
mudras (stimulating energy points) and pranayama (stimulating energy currents).
*Group discussion of yoga and meditation experience throughout the course.
*Deliciously prepared meals three times a day.
*A half-day excursion to one of the Big Island’s scenic sights
About the Facilitator(s)
Lino Laure has been practicing meditation for over 25 years. A year after learning meditation, he had a spontaneous spiritual awakening, as the surge of kundalini energy awakened within him prompting a whole new level of life, self awareness and direction. For over 16 years he received guidance from his teacher, a Dhanur Vedic master healer from Kerala, India, learning aspects of yoga, meditation and healing arts. Lino enjoys sharing what he has learned, helping individuals gain a better understanding as they practice the art of meditation, yoga and wellness. Lino served on staff and taught workshops at Kalani Oceanside Retreat on the Big Island of Hawaii.
