Basic Watsu

Alexis Lee

July 18, 2013 - July 19, 2013

Learn Watsu in HawaiiBasic Watsu moves open all Watsu sessions and are the first third of what is taught in Watsu 1. In this 16 hour course you will learn a progression of moves that you can share with anyone.

Starting with the Waterbreath Dance, you learn to stay in the emptiness at the bottom of the breath until the breathing of the one in your arms draws you up out of it. You then learn to move to the rhythm of that breath you now share, building into a faster move that stopping, takes you beyond the breath, into a stillness where you can connect to whatever movement within the one you float has been activated.

In that same stillness, floating someone at your heart, you can access whatever rises up from your heart out your arms under them. The more you access together the movement from within, the more it leads you into a continuum through the changes of the position of your arm in what is called Explore Flow. .

NOTE: Basic Watsu will be the first two days of Watsu 1

Kalani has one of the largest Watsu pools in the United States, an excellent facility to learn this beautiful and transformative art.

About the Facilitator(s)

Alexis LeeMy love of Watsu® stems from the heart-centered connection I feel with the person floating in my arms. I believe Watsu® is a way of bringing awareness, groundedness and peace into our daily lives. Much more than a "technique" of aquatic bodywork; the surrender and trust, as well as physical flexibility experienced in a session is profound. I incorporate NVC and the unique style of Selwa Said Communication into the class as good and ethics are essential to the healing process.

My passion for Watsu has taken me from being a Montessori teacher, and 22 years of being a performance artist using mime, comedy and movement, into the healing arts. This has aided in my flowing style in sessions as well as creating a supportive, graceful, nonjudgmental learning environment in the classroom, adapted to individual learning styles.

Trained with the originators of Watsu & Healing Dance, with over 8,000 hours of Massage study and teaching, co-taught with Harold Dull; creator of Watsu, I bring my knowledge of land massage into my water-healing; ZenShiatsu, Energy Active Craniosacral, Yogasage, Lomilomi, to name a few.

The space of total presence and awareness that the giver provides in WaterTherapy, is the same space we can use to bring peace in our world, locally and globally. I’d love to share this space with everyone.
