American Classic belly dance and performance artist, instructor, writer, producer and lecturer, Delilah is one of the most visible dancers in the world. She has 8 (3 hour) instructional DVD’s on the market today and 3 more to be released this year, totaling 39 titles of documentary, performance and instructional to her credit. She has produced music CD’s events, retreats tours and is the genius behind the Power Belly Weight belt engineering. Her creativity is endless and in all respects, Delilah is a forward thinker, dedicated to the artistic rewards of the individual and their personal growth.
Elisa Gamal is entering the third decade of her love affair with Middle Eastern dance! She took her first belly dance class in 1987, and made her professional debut to the stages of Seattle in 1994 after being hand picked by the MB Orchestra to join them as a house dancer. Highlights of her career include winning numerous solo and group awards including the 1999 Bellydance USA and 2006 Seven Veils Champion titles, being featured on the cover of Jareeda magazine, and performing as a guest with the Bellydance Superstars on their first US tour.
Elisa enjoys an active performance schedule, appearing at several Seattle area venues, dance festivals, and cultural events including the Northwest Folklife Festival and bi-annual Seattle Arab Festival.
A sought-after instructor and intuitive, supportive and effective coach, Elisa has watched several of her current and past students gain national recognition and win trophies and titles in nearly every major US belly dance competition. Alimah was introduced to belly dance in 2001 and since has won many awards, including Belly Dance Nationals National Champion 2009, Shimmilicious Soloist Champion 2009, Lillies of the Valley Professional as well as Professional Challenge Winner 2008, Belly Dancer USA 2005, and Double Crown Performing Artist 2004. She now performs arabic music as the violinist in House of Tarab, and a mix of world music with Avaaza. Before her obsession with dance began, Alimah spent years playing violin in professional orchestras across the country. She holds a Masters in Music from Yale University, and has taught violin workshops around the northwest. She draws on her background as a musician to develop practice and performance strategies, as well as to understand phrasing and compositional technique. Erik began serious study of Arabic percussion in 2003 after a ground breaking lesson with master percussionist Souhail Kaspar. As an eternal student he has continued to study with many master percussionists including Faisel Zedan, Said el Artist, Issam Houshan Karim Nagi, Uncle Mafufo , and Tobias Roberson to name a few. Today, Erik is one of the most sought after player in the northwest, and he’s renowned for his ability to connect with dancers during live performances. As the Tabla player for the “House of Tarab” ensemble Erik strives to represent an authentic sound in Arabic music. www.houseoftarab.com
