While this workshop uses yoga & writing to help break creative blocks, you do not need to be an experienced yogi or writer to participate. All you need is a love for taking care of your physical body and a desire to express yourself through writing.

This Yoga & Writing Block Buster Retreat™ combines the time-tested Practical Yoga retreat workouts with accessible, hands-on writing experiences each day to help you go deeply into the rich soil of your life and electrify your creative endeavors.

Get ready to sweat. laugh and let your spirit soar, as each day features one two-hour session of Practical Yoga & Meditation and one two-hour prompt-based writing experience in one of the most stunning environments you could imagine, surrounded by fiery lava, invigorating ocean, tropical foliage, and people celebrating the spirit of aloha.
In addition to our yoga sessions and adventures, there are special ceremonies planned to allow you go to deeper into transformation.
About the Writing:
If you are a writer, the writing classes are simple in format (prompt-based) and will re-engage your creative mind to help you bust through writer’s block. If you are a novice, this format offers a safe environment from which to explore, to encourage your creative energies to soar.
About the Yoga:
Practical Yoga is Will’s special combination of both the more ubiquitous hatha/vinyasa yoga and the ancient and powerful white tantric technology of Kundalini Yoga & Meditation (as originally taught by Yogi Bhajan.) This potent combination is a practical way to consciously cultivate inner strength, compassion and self-awareness. Each class is accessible and invigorating.
We have planned an adventure to one the most potent and inspiring sites in the region: Volcanoes National Park at Night, where we will ask the goddess Peel, the goddess of destruction and rebirth, to dissolve our blocks!. Also, we will spend afternoons writing. There will be occasional afternoon Holo-Holo trips (hawaiian slang meaning “to go out for stroll for pleasure”) in the local area, where we will write amongst some of the most stunning and inspiring scenery imaginable.
Exploration and Self Care:
The schedule offers you opportunities to get inspired by the gorgeous sights and activities nearby including black sand beaches, hot springs, lava hikes, lava tube exploration, waterfalls, dolphin swims, turtle nesting areas, snorkeling and much more!
There will be plenty of free time for relaxation and spa experiences, or to engage with Kalani's vibrant Hawaiian culture programs, classes, and events (either by donation or nominal charge). Each day, you will connect with others on the open air dining lanai, while enjoying three delicious and abundant chef created meals per day. Vegan, Vegetarian and gluten-free options are always available.
About the Facilitator(s)
Will Donnelly is a nationally recognized, certified yoga teacher and writer. With over 20 years experience practicing and teaching yoga & meditation, Will is yoga-alliance certified (400+ hours), both through the Kundalini Research Institute™(KRI), having trained and taught at the renowned Golden Bridge in Los Angeles, as well as through YogaWorks™.
Will has been a true pioneer in the field of yoga, and co-created and co-hosted the yoga–reality series Guru2Go, which debuted on fit TV, part of the Discovery family of channels (2004). Will has written for television (Discovery), and online at AOL/Time Warner (Diet & Fitness Pages), and his previous website, PracticalYoga.tv. He is Editor-in-Chief for the international Yoga for Every Body newsletter, originally having partnered with EverydayHealth.com/Waterfront Media to offer practical and uplifting yoga and wellness content to over 350,000 subscribers daily.
His popular, ongoing retreats have been described as “powerful, fun and deeply transformative.”
His signature Practical Yoga offers students of all shapes and sizes an approachable and invigorating workout, and he takes students on an inner journey like few others. In each class, Will provides a profoundly energizing and healing experience, where students get in shape quickly and lift their spirits
Currently, Will is working on a memoir and blogs for SpiritualityHealth.com (Confessions of an Accidental Yogi). He also leads a prompt-based writing group at Kalani on the Big Island, where he now lives.
