Kalani Oceanside Retreat welcomes year round, several dozens of guest yoga faculty coming from all over the USA to hold their yoga retreats, teacher trainings and workshops on the Big Island of Hawaii. Shiva Rea, Rodney Yee, Baron Baptiste, Lynne Minton are just a few members of Kalani's extensive guests list who have choosen Kalani as their favorite destination in the Pacific.
Rodney first began studying yoga with Donald Moyer, Manouso Manos and Ramanand Patel and continued with the Yoga Teacher Training Program at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco. His yoga studies also include intensives with the Iyengars in India in 1987 and 1989.
In recent years, Rodney has relied strongly on his own practice and intuition to influence his teaching. His core group of friends, everyday students and family are also resources for a bounty of insights. Rodney practices and teaches yoga to bring philosophy into action and to unveil the natural beauty of our spirits. He loves the ability of yoga to cleanse the mind and body which allows for presence of being.
Through rigorous study in India and America that began at the early age of 12 years old, Baron has created a yoga practice without boundaries - it is a dynamic combination of strength, sweat and spirituality. It heals, detoxifies and electrifies the body and mind at their deepest levels. This method is a dynamic combination of precise education, intuitive discovery, profound knowledge and experiential practices that results in transforming limitations into power. Those engaged in this process become empowered to overcome the barriers that stand in the way of allowing themselves to revolutionize their body, their emotions, their relationships and their ability to serve the greater good. No other process utilizes so many tools to tap into one's hidden potential for achieving authentic personal power and living an extraordinary life.
With this practice, Baron has knocked yoga off of its pedestal and demystified it by bringing it into people's lives across America. Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga has quickly become one of the most widely known and respected educational methods and yoga practices as a way to achieve personal transformation.

Shiva is an avid Ashtanga practitioner who respects the core technique of the Krishnamacharya lineage (asana, bandha, pranayama, meditation) while being true to other streams of influence that have deepened her experience of yoga from dance and bodywork to rock climbing and her extensive travels in India, East and West Africa, Nepal, Bali and the Caribbean.
She teaches flow-based (vinyasa) yoga integrating alignment and intuition, strength and fluidity, meditation and wisdom in action. As a yogic usher, she guides you to the seat inside your Self and then supports your experience with your life-long teacher - the intelligence within. Shiva looks for your potential and both challenges and nurtures you to embody your being with vitality and grace."

"We both love Kalani, and in fact, I've been coming here since the first year it was open and have taught at least one workshop per year every year since the late 70's. There is just no place like Kalani and the wild Kalapana coast left in Hawaii, so we find ourselves returning each year like migratory birds. There are fancier places but none that I have found that have the unique soul that Kalani manifests." -Tracey Coddington & John Fliessbach
