Join us for a presentation on the benefits of call and response Mantra chanting, a process that has been practiced for millenniums throughout the World bringing community together in Unity and Diversity. “Man” means “mind” and “tra” means “to give bliss”. Great masters claim the benefits of chanting these power words together in groups has the greatest benefit to ones soul, each other and even the whole world. Vijay will be sharing his experiences in Kirtan as well as techniques and chants on Harmonium, Caratals and Mridanga drum. We will learn enchanting melodies from Vrindavan and Navadvipa Krishna Bhakti traditions as well as rhythms for use in Kirtan for ones own practice and for sharing with others.
Vijay Krsna studied devotional Indian folk music known as “Kirtan” in the sacred village of Vrindavana, India. This rare traditional art form is an ancient call-and-response mantra chanting practice, that originated in the Indian subcontinent over 5000 years ago. Vijay formed the band Kirtaniyas in 2009. They have travelled the world to over 15 countries infusing new life to these ancient chants with youthful spirit and energy.
