Join facilitators Lara Zilibowitz and Brooke Elliston for an unforgettable yoga immersion on Hawaii Island, commonly known as the Big Island.

Set on 120 acres and surrounded by breathtaking volcanic coastline and tropical jungle, our retreat space is the world renowned Kalani Retreat Centre, Kalani Honua meaning harmony of heaven and earth.

Your five nights and six days will be filled with yoga, meditation, traditional Tantra ceremony as well as attuning with creative energy through art, music, special workshops and trance dance. With the intention of awakening you to new ways of experiencing the world that paradoxically unravel you back to your natural state of being, back to your roots, this immersion has been curated with heart to nurture your body and soul and deepen your connection to self, the extraordinary surroundings and one other.

Also on board for the week are exceptional special guest talents DJ Le Rire and Pacific soul warrior Franko Heke from New Zealand, who will be collaborating to create unforgettable yoga soundscapes, ecstatic dance journeys and kirtan immersions.

Accommodation options range from Tree House rooms nestled under the cool shade of a large Monkeypod Tree - designed to invite nature indoors and give you an outside-in sensation with tropical breezes and filtered light washing through, to Hawaiian lodges and bungalows steeped amongst luscious natural splendour. The pool area is home to a 25-metre half-Olympic swimming pool, plus heated watsu saltwater pool, both clothing optional ;), not to mention the ceremonial lodge and spoilt-for-choice spaces on the property infused with creative and spiritual energy where we will facilitate our retreat experiences.

Food

You will be nourished from the inside out with 3 wholesome and healthy paddock-to-plate meals per day, celebrating the abundance of Hawaiian local tropical fruits, vegetables and fresh caught fish.

Kalani cuisine encompasses a variety of styles including Thai, Indian, and Italian. The chefs have extensive training, but most importantly believe that the care and love invested in the food is transmitted to the receiver, and everything is prepared with a good dose of aloha.

Kalani is 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Your stay here supports our mission to provide transformational experiences via nature, culture, and wellness.

Kalani retreat rates are all-inclusive and provide access to meals, accommodations, and use of Kalani's amenities including our clothing-optional 25-meter pool and hot tubs. Kalani cannot pro-rate fees for late arrivals or early departures. Registration for the full retreat experience is required.

Airport Transportation

Kalani offers shuttle service from Hilo International Airport (ITO), which can be arranged via Kalani Guest Services, [email protected] or 808.965.0468. Please send flight details, including airline carrier and flight number with your shuttle request. We also pick up from the downtown Hilo bus station and hotels. Shuttle service is subject to availability; one-way pricing is $50 per person for shared rides and $75 per person for single bookings. If you require airport shuttle service, please contact us to make your reservation a minimum of one week in advance.

Taxi service is available from ITO or Hilo Downtown for a one-way fare of approximately $125.

Policies

Cancellations up to 7 days in advance of arrival incur a $75 administrative fee. Cancellations within 7 days of arrival incur forfeiture of fees paid up to $250. No refund will be provided for no-shows or cancellations within 24 hours of scheduled arrival, 4:00 pm on check-in date. No refund will be provided for early departures from retreat programs. Participation in any parts of programs at Kalani Honua is completely voluntary.

Kalani Honua reserves the right to dismiss a participant at any time before, during or after a program if one:

  • Becomes dangerous or harmful to self, others, or property
  • Behaves disruptively or inappropriately
  • Is not able, for whatever reason, to be present for learning
  • Breaks the law
  • Refuses to cooperate with program leaders or Kalani Honua management
  • Does not pay accordingly for program or services provided

Lara has a long-standing passion for creative expression through the body and was first introduced to yoga at age 16. Movement and creativity became the keystones in her own quest towards holistic health and she revels in the opportunity to share these learnings with her students - through vinyasa, AcroYoga, Thai massage, art making and many more somatic meditations.She has become known for her fluid and dynamic yoga teaching style, coaxing students to get out of their head and drop into their feeling, intuitive body. What results is a profound breath-per-movement meditation of 'flow state', inspired by the teachings of her mentor, vinyasa trailblazer Shiva Rea.Lara teaches public classes at BodyMindLife studios in Sydney, is an ambassador for lululemon athletica and Wanderlust festivals, an assistant to global movement alchemist Shiva Rea, as well as being a prolific ceramicist and contributing editor for delicious. BROOKE ELLISTON
Brooke grew up barefoot and by the sea, two traits which remain distinctive of her character and way of life today. A surfer, she spends plenty of time in the ocean, a love symbiotic to her way of life in yoga.Brooke has been taught and guided by some extraordinary teachers, yoga schools and swamis; most notably studying the ancient teachings of Tantra Yoga extensively in Thailand, which are the underpinning of her teaching style. She enjoys weaving the threads of traditional teachings into a fluid and dynamic practice to offer a slow, strong flow - a deep burn of sensory explosions, with a mellow approach.Brooke has a dedicated practice and is constantly driven to explore and stay curious. She teaches from a place of embodied experience and has a love for speaking to the intricacies of body, prana and breath.
