Hula Heritage Festival 2017

Hula Heritage Festival 2017

Facilitated by Kumu Ehulani Stephany, Likeke Koob, Kuane Cariaga, Lynda Tu'a and the Kalani Team.

Join us as we celebrate great moments of Hawaiian culture. Throughout the week we will learn traditional songs, chants, myths, crafts, language, plant uses and hula - in both kahiko (ancient) and ‘auana (post 1860) forms. For Hula Heritage registrants there is no charge for our regular, weekly, 50+ classes.

Wednesday through Saturday evenings we will go to the Edith Kanaka’ole Stadium in Hilo for the 6-11pm Merrie Monarch Hula Festival programs.

Our finale performance, at Kalani, celebrates a week of extraordinary cultural enrichment. Enjoy performing for the Kalani 'ohana after nine hours of hula classes taught by Kumu Hula Ehulani Stephany. Excursions during the week include visits to Volcanoes National Park, Hilo waterfalls, Merrie Monarch Parade, Hilo Farmers' Market, and Coconut Beach.

Participation is very limited. Call now to register for this extraordinary Hawaiian week.
Included are 3 meals per day: Breakfast 7:30-8:30 am, Lunch 12:00-1:00 pm, Dinner 6:00-7:30 pm (bagged lunch for Saturday, Parade Day). Credit given for dinners missed at Kalani. Dinners can be purchased in Hilo or at the Merrie Monarch Festival.
