Painting in Paradise Lino Laure Hawaii FlyerIf youʼve ever wanted to learn how to paint nature and in nature, then I invite you to come and enjoy a retreat of creating and relaxing on the Big Island of Hawaii.

Whether you are new to painting or have worked with paint media before, we will explore the essentials of painting. We will paint with oils (which is the most durable painting medium and produces the most brilliant colors), and learn the basics of composition, color tones and values, texture and techniques of application. Since Hawaii has a wonderful gentle climate and rich in natural wonder all year around, we will spend time painting outdoors “en plein air” as well as some occasions indoors exploring still life painting. Kalani has wonderful natural seascapes, landscapes and gardens and we will take advantage of capturing the scenes and elements that will be available to us in our immediate environment.

Throughout the workshop and retreat, you will be nurtured and guided in your process of bringing out your creativity and in developing your art and painting style. Since every person has a unique style of painting, we will explore how best to cultivate that natural element of self expression. All of your art materials will be provided for so thereʼs nothing to bring but perhaps a camera and your favorite outdoor hat! Indeed thereʼs plenty of sunshine here in Hawaii, but thereʼs plenty of shade too wherein you can relax also when we paint outdoors.

From this retreat, you will take home not only your paintings but also the wonderful experience of learning a classical art form and meeting wonderful people. So, come and join a group of eager painters...and paint in paradise! Space is limited to a dozen people to maximize class instruction so please sign up early! You will enjoy the experience...the outcome of giving birth to your artistic passion and talent and to witness what you will create.

About the Facilitator(s)

Lino Laure

Lino LaureLino has been painting close to 20 years.  Graduating from Cal Poly, Pomona, California in 1989, Lino received a bachelors degree in Liberal Arts with a minor in Education. Years after college, Lino moved to the Bay Area, San Francisco to continue his studies with his spiritual teacher in the arts of yoga and other spiritual disciplines. On a break from his studies, he took his first trip to France and it was from that initial trip that Lino discovered his natural ability to paint and create beautiful works of art. From then on, he was hooked on painting...and yoga, meditation and painting became his love.

While in the Bay Area, Lino was a member of the San Francisco Artistʼs Guild and, for a period of time, he mentored with Ann Hogle, a good friendʼs mother and renowned, award-winning, California landscape painter.

In 2003, Lino moved to Hawaii where he continued to paint while also pursuing interests in yoga and meditation. Falling in love with Hawaii, with its landscapes and seascapes abound, Lino painted prolifically and sold his artwork in two galleries in Kona, Hawaii. He now lives at Kalani, a retreat center on the Big Island, where he teaches a variety of workshops and classes.
